He completed his medical studies in 1989, followed by specialized training in urology and a master's degree in urology.
He received training in organ transplantation (kidney) surgery in Guangzhou, China in 2002, at the University of Liège, Belgium in 2007, and in kidney-pancreas transplantation surgery in 2014.
He also trained in endoscopic urology surgery in Taiwan, China in 2009.
He pioneered the non-surgical ultrasound-guided aspiration of kidney cysts, successfully performing the first case with just a small needle to aspirate all the fluid from the cyst.
- He is a member of several professional associations, including the Vietnam Urology and Nephrology Association, the Ho Chi Minh City Dialysis Association, the Vietnam Society of Sexual Medicine, and the Ho Chi Minh City Pelvic Floor Society.
He has conducted numerous research projects and received awards in the field of urology and nephrology, such as complications in urology after kidney transplantation, surgical complications after kidney transplantation, the necessity of placing JJ stents in ureteral reimplantation in living donor kidney transplant patients, the role of omentectomy in CAPD catheter placement surgery in end-stage renal disease patients, treatment of post-renal acute kidney injury, outcomes of graft placement for hemodialysis, kidney transplantation in grafts with vascular anomalies in living donors, studies on factors affecting urological complications in living donor kidney transplantation, urological complications related to the Lich-Gregoir ureteral reimplantation technique after living donor kidney transplantation, outcomes of modified Lich-Gregoir ureteral reimplantation in living donor kidney transplant patients, and clinical and subclinical characteristics of urolithiasis after kidney transplantation.
